we were Riding for the vote and beyond

When we began bicycling from Virginia Beach to Oregon, we thought of it as a kind of wild honeymoon, something epic to throw ourselves into after deciding to postpone the celebration of our wedding. But the farther we pushed on through this vast, fraught country of ours, the more we saw the potential to put our trip to some use.

So, we started riding to get out the vote and (with anything left over) to contribute to local bail funds.  In the end, we hit our goal ($1 for every mile of the trail) and raised $4,228 for VOTO LATINO ($4,303 through a Go Fund Me campaign and the rest through Venmo). We also gave to the Roanoke Community Bail Fund
